Some writers ( I think they have run of out ideas) are criticising Sri Lanka for resting key players. What's all the fuss? Any team may decide which players to play and which to rest. This encounter (Aus vs SL)was not going to yield any concrete result as both are through to the semis. Does not a team have a right to rest some of its players if it wants to?

Yes, each team has defenitely right to decide which players to be rested and which players should play and nobody has a right to question them.

Usually most of the team has a inner group .. Team management... consists of Coach, Captain and some players. You can think as .. TEAM MANAGEMENT as Advisor to Captain. But CAPTAIN is the main person -so Called BOSS who can choose anyone..
Captain is also part of selection committee.

What SriLanka did was a pre planned keeping final in mind. They know, that they won't get No. 1 by beating Aus so just keep main bowler out, if they qualify (Aus will qualify for sure) then Australia will have to face these three stars of SriLanka first time in WC Final only .This is an advantage for SriLanka.

No the team is not going to select the players, the Coach and the Captain selects the team.

but the point is,...............Ooh plz ha ha
not only one player Lankans rested man....
. But also 3 most infuential players in the world cup.
what a lackluster match...
Everybody ecxept you were looking forward to watch da match................
( which supposed to represent real heros in modern day cricket)
what's da point...?
i mean if Murali played Lankans could have choked Ausies.
Do Oz gonna "summon superman" to

ACCORDING TO KAPIL DEV "CAPTAIN IS THE BOSS".....
THE CAPTAIN IS ASSISTED BY SOME OF THE SENIOR GUYS TO SELECT THE TEAM (INCLUDING AND DROPPING THE PLAYERS).........
SELECTORS ALSO PLAY A BIG ROLE IN DROPPING SOME OF THE PLAYERS..............
MAYBE IT WAS A DECISION OF SELECTORS TO DROP VAAS AND MURALI IN THE SUPER 8 MATCH AGAINST THE AUSSIES.THEY DID THIS BECAUSE SRILANKA WANTED TO PRESERVE THEIR MAIN PLAYERS.........
NOWADAYS SL IS PREFERING THE AUSSIES WAY OF SELECTION......

they have right.
but without 3 heros of world cup,
the much awaited match went........."LAME"
in other words,
we have to wait until they meet again
why?
to know who is the Best.
