Please don't be alarmed, I'm asking this to get some product info. My wife told me that women sometimes use what is called "tawas" here in the Philippines (ammonium alum) as a feminine wash, and that it has the effect of tightening the vagina. Is this true? Is it safe? Does it have any side effects, such as causing irritation? How does one prepare it for use? I know it's a pretty good deodorant, but I -- obviously -- don't know about this other stuff, and would like to know if I can responsibly advertise another use for the product I sell.

I would recommend double checking with your pharmacist to see what they know about this product as far as side effects that they have heard of.

I would also double check with your dr to find out if this is a safe product to be used and whether or not it can help with vaginal tightening (most products like this do not but it's best to check with the dr on this one).

No. The tightening effect is temporary, it goes away in about 30 - 40 minutes. As for a cleanser, I have old school Filipino aunts that use it and a number of other "weird" non - american forms of feminine hygeine.
