I think that all candidates think about their successful election to the White House will bring about a new era. So I believe that he believes that. As for what it will entail - I think we would see a focus on 'the little guy' - and a push in the areas of education and social programs. And I definitely think it will move America to a new level of respect on the international stage...

Every new president brings a new 'era' - it really should be a new 'set of agendas'.
I have followed Obama since the last elections, at first I was highly impressed. Then I heard the speech he gave at Selma. He lied repeatedly in an effort to show he was 'black enough' for Selma. He has no respect for blacks if he thinks that is the only reason they need in order to vote for someone.
I am still totally undecided at this point though, I look for candidates from both sides to be made to look like fools in the media, to flip-flop on their stances, and to be caught lying.

Yes, alot more than I believe in this "new Congress."
Not sure about his alliance with David Geffin. I am sure from reading his site that he did follow the campaign finance rules. He also gave himself room to collect backing after the primary witch Hill over solicited and was out foxed. Check the real numbers 28 mil to spend now VS 19 mil Hil get.

Yes. His wealth of experience guaranties new approaches and I think that is the definition of a 'new' era.
Notice I didn't say a good era!

toothacre is exaclty right. its easy to say you'll do something, its MUCH harder to say how. look at Iraq. its one thing to say you'll insall Democracy...its completely another to go through the actions. not nearly as easy as most people think.
Obama will certainly make promises that he won't keep. what i DO find disturbing already is how he, early on in his Senatorial campaign, railed against campaign spending, and was a big proponent of campaign finance reform along with Hitler-y Clinton...yet, they both got into a spending "Race" a few weeks back, and bragged abotu who had the larger pot.
Also, Obama wavered on his opinion with the Imus issue. in fact, before Imus was fired, he said "I am uncertain how it should be handled". as SOON as public opinion came back, and Imus was released, Obama said "I KNEW he should have been fired!" (Paraphrased of course on both sets of quotes). but the point is, he pulled the typical "Which way is the wind blowing today" Jon Kerry Bull $h!t...so, two strikes against him for me already.

Sure. They all have an "elect me" slogan and all speak to change, togetherness, new beginnings, etc. I like him and I think he has a great mind and heart that speaks to all of us directly. He's young and refreshing as well. He gets my attention every time I see his face on the television. There something about him that make me remember JFK...youth, vigor, intelligence, style. People feel that ...and his sincerity.
The thing to remember (that we all forget) is that there are no Supermen in govt and none work it alone.

Whatever he does, he doesn't come from the ol' political elite, so maybe he could look to the Little Guy, and do something for him. Seems like fresh air.
BTW, would be funny to have a black president in the US.
Whatever you do, DON'T vote the cons!

So far, like a lot of politicians, he is saying what he will do and not HOW he will do it. Anyone can say: I will bring world peace, I will end poverty, I will make health care affordable, etc. BUT, HOW will they do it. I, myself, would love to hear some particulars!!!
