I think I might have inspired you with this question.
My first ever single was Hey Ladies by the Beastie Boys in 1989, it was from the Paul's Boutique album that my big sister used to listen to all the time and I begged my mum to let me buy the album too but she wouldn'y let me because it had adult content (I was only 7 years old) so she let me buy the single.
Quite funny really because I can't stand rap music by anyone at all anymore.

If you can't remember that band, think yourself lucky. *cringe*
At least Barbie Girl had a certain kitsch quality that almost redeems it, can't say the same about Ace of Base, lol.
