Do they make a printer cable to go from my lexmark X1270 to the parallel port (standard printer port) on my computer to the small about 1/4 inch wide port on my printer, My computer USB ports dont function. Or is there a adapter, or will this work at all. Or will I need a printer with a parallel port ?

Thanks, Wayne

You are better of, in the long run, installing a usb port pci card. That said, any parallel port printer cable will work with the Lexmark but it will be slower than usb.

The reason your usb ports don't work might be because they might not be connected, not activated/not activated using the correct settings in the motherboards 'bios program' located by pressing F2 or whatever equivalent key it is & looking at & adjusting settings 1st, in Losdows 'device mismanager' by right-clicking on 'my monster' & selecting 'properties', unless that has been tried already! Or worse; faulty motherboard or connecting cable.

I don't think the cables are made that way. You'll have to use an adapter or 2, make 'm yourself or get someone else to make 'm for you!

If your computer has an AMD CPU, and Viatech USB Host Controllers; changing the USB Host Controller drivers to standard or generic drivers, may work.

Plus, you must make sure that the USB ports are enabled, in the BIOS.

They do make USB to parallel port adaptors. Check any electronic store and you will find them.
