That varies greatly with what style of dance, and what do you mean by "professional dancing". For example, teaching in ballroom pays very differently than performances, even the type of payment is different. Typically, it is per hour pay for teaching, it is lump sum for performances. Both depend on how good you are. It varies from $20 to $300 per hour, and from a Thank-You note to several thousand dollars for a performance.

It can vary widely. It depends on where you are located, what your specialty is, and how much competition there is there. It seems that most professional dancers do it because it is their passion, not because they are making alot of money.

TOURS - Rate range widely depending on the scope of the tour (Regional / World) and the Star Power of the artist. (Lady Ga Ga vs. a Newbie)

$1,200 to $2,500 /week (while on the road)
50% of pay or some set amount (when off of the road, not touring)
Per Diem = $50 - $60 / day (food)
Own hotel room

STAR -
$900 to $1,300 /week (while on the road)
$0 to 50% (when off of the road, not touring)
Per Diem = $30 - $40 / day (food)
Own hotel room

NEWBIE -
$500 to $1,000 /week (while on road)
$0 (when off of the road, not touring)
Per Diem = $20 - $30 / day (food)
Shared hotel room

i kow ballet dancers ahrdly anything, but the company normally buys shoes and costumes.
