Too much current being drawn on that circuit.

Coffe makers do pull a lot of current. I would like to think that your outlet and lights are on seperate circuits.

I will assume that your lights dim when the coffee maker is turned on and brighten when the heating element is turned off.

You might want to throw the breaker on the outlet for the coffee maker and see it the lights are still on. that way you would know they are on seperate circuits.

You may also want to get an electrician to check the connections on the main panel and in the outlet itself.

The coffee maker is drawing too much current, you may need a new one. The only way to tell is to take it to aa appliance store and have them run a wattage test on it. You may also have too much stuff on that line or the wireing may be too small. I think the coffee maker is shot though. Although you didn't mention much about the circuit it is on.

You a drawing too much current on that particular circuit and curcuit breaker. Move it to another curcuit, if you dont have another one you or your landlord will have to get an electrician to update the kitchen wiring or you will (WILL) have a fire sooner or later and FIRES ARE DEADLY !!! The county gov. requires that rental units be kept up to date electrically, so if LL refuses to fix the situation, go to the building & zoning dept and report the violation! It's not worth risking your life or the life of the next tenant and possibly children!!

U need an ELCB (Electronic Circuit Breaker). Install it imm or this fluctuation cud be really bad - both for u & the coffee maker.

it could be too much load but possiblt voltage drop in the supply if it were in peak times.

Possibly a bad connection in the switch board.

Keep an eye on it
