I used to feel the same way you did. I drive a truck for a living. A few years ago one of the drivers working for the same company I do, hit the guardrail on I 81 in West Virginia. No one knows if he fell asleep, or what happened. He was not wearing a seat belt. The impact with the guard rail knocked him out of the drivers seat. At this point, he was sitting on the floor. The truck had no driver, it crossed medium, into oncoming traffic and struck another truck head on, killing both truck drivers. While it's not as much of a factor in a car, they don't have the roomy cabs that trucks do, but it's a factor none the less, you cannot control your vehicle if you are no longer behind the wheel. Also check your life insurance policy. I will bet anything there is a clause in there that if you are killed in a traffic accident, and you are found to not be wearing a seat belt, they won't pay. It's in mine.

One of my friends, a cop in Pennsylvania, says that the law in New Jersey only requires FRONT SEAT occupants to wear a seat belt. Since Mr. Corzine was in the BACK seat, he is not subject to that law. Maybe Mr. Corzine, assuming he can resume his duties as governor, should ask that the seat belt legislation be changed to include ALL vehicle occupants including those in middle and rear seats.

As it is and has been said. CLICK IT OR TICKET. Injuries, Oh well too bad. Here is your ticket. Now I say this in a serious way. BUT I also feel myself personally that wearing a seat belt or helmet is a choice that the driver should be able to make. BUT since our GOVERNMENT is being the dictators that they are which by the way he IS PART OF, well once again here is your ticket.

Heck yeah! And what should be done with the Deputy who was driving him and didn't require him to put his seat belt on before he began his trip?! He should get reprimanded too! It's the law and just because he's the Governor or a Deputy doesn't mean they are special. I pay their salaries and they should have to follow the same laws as we all do. It's a LAW not a suggestion!

I'd give him a ticket. I drove off a bridge into a swamp in a brand new BMW when I was 16, I thought I suffered enough, but they slapped me with $101 fine. (I totaled the BMW btw) That's suffering.

He should be given a ticket. The law is the law.

Yes - Upholding the law has to be unbiased. His personal suffering should not be a factor.

He should definitely get a ticket. Injuries or not, he broke the law.

Absolutely! Just because he's a Gov. doesn't place him above obeying the law.

In fact, for setting such a poor example, his fine should be tripled.
