Go to: Start > Control Panel > User Accounts.

Create a password for yourself. Then, turn on the Guest account.

Log off (CRITICAL!) as you and let him use the Guest Log-In.

He can access the web, but won't be able to mess with your PC.

hi. There are a lot of ways to lock your computer from other people i.e you ex husband.
1) set a password under bios so that eveytime people turn on your system it will immediately prompt for password. There are no other ways to bypass bios password unless they know how to open and reset the bios inside the mother board of your computer.
2) set a password on your Operating System under User Accounts in control panel but make sure you are using Windows NT/2000/XP otherwise if you use Windows 9X/ME they can be easily bypass

Well, you can possibly lock your computer. Pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del brings you a dialog box. Click on the Lock Computer button and it will lock your computer.

Before that, make sure you have set a password for your account. If not then, follow the above method and in the Dialog Box, select Change Password and type in a new password and now click on those button combinations again and click on Lock Computer.

Until the correct password is entered, it will not unlock the computer. Even restarting, does not help it

That depends on how computer saavy your hubbie is. If he has great computer skills and you have very little, then he will definately have the advantage until/unless you catch up with him.
If you have W2000/XP/Vista, you can password protect it, but he can install some password cracking software, such as Knoppix, and crack your password if he has a mind to and you cant prevent that as long as he has physical access to your computer.

This insn't prssible for him to do this unless he has alreay installed a program on your computer allowing him to do this, eg. spy program.

He is probley just trying to scare you into thinking something else, that he still has control over you. You can lock your computer if he does computer, YES.
click start, control pannel, then user accounts. put a password on your account, then add another account that other people can use, eg, Guest. its that simple, you have nothing to worry about
