Did students get locked in classrooms ,for their own protection by campus security or police?

Your question is irrelevant for the following reason. The security on VT campus is the campus police. These are not security guards or rent a cops. They are an actual trained police department. I guess the answer to your question would be police because the campus security were police. Now I do not know if it was the campus police, the city police or the state police.
