I can't find drivers on any discs that ive got so can i download sound drivers for free? ive tried and all i seem to get is "SPEND $24.00" which i think is a bit much when i already had sound before i reinstalled windows xp. somebody please help it's DRIVING me up the wall. I have only owned my p.c. 4 weeks and i seemed to have broke it!

i have now got my sound back only problem now is playing games i can load them but my pc wont let me play them, how do i update driver for this problem without the disc? thanks for ur answers

Ok do u have ur motherboard cd. if u have it install everything in it. if u dont hav it try installing a software called avrack from the net.

Usually Windows XP detects and installs sound card driveres without much of trouble.

As you mentioned you have this PC only for 4 weeks, you should have the CD of your sound driver. Try installing the driver from there.

Further, as a double check, make sure that your volume setting is not on MUTE.

Install the sound card driver from your mother board driver cd

Take your PC back to the store where you bought it.

It sounds like your motherboard drivers are missing.

XP ALWAYS does that.
Try drivers.com. Make a back up when you get it.
