I'm not an American, but as far as I know buying a fire weapon in USA is a piece of cake, and that seems very strange to us, the Europeans...I believe two terrific wars have
diminished European desire for all kind of weapons, we only need peace, all of us...I believe great majority of Americans share my opinion, but...But weapon production is a good business, there are many people in this world making profits out of production and sell of weapons. As long as legislation allows people to perform legal ( and sometimes illegal ) distribution of weapons, things like this recent massacre will happen...Violence is deeply rooted in human genes, just remember, we used to have wars all the time in the past, it's just of late, actually after the fall of atomic bombs on Japan, that things changed slightly...To contain violence and establish the global roll of law is a matter of science fiction !
What we can do is : reduce production and selling of weaponry !

While I hate government mandates I really do believe one should be made in this case

All students over the age of 21 will take a firearms class and carry a firearm while at school.

All teachers and faculty WILL take advanced training in firearms, and will be required to pass examination and carry arms while at school as a condition of continued employment.

Now those two things right there would have prevented most if not all of the killings, and you do not tamper with others constitutional rights.

No. Educating people and arming everyone would do more to help situations like what happened yesterday then banning fire arms. If everyone had fire arms, then the first moment an insident happens the shooter woudl have everyone draw their weapons on him stopping the shooter at the first shot.

first of all banning of firearms will not stop this from happening again or ever.. people can get guns in different way if they have an intention of doing bad.. i own 17 guns.. I go to gun safety classes once a year to make sure i don't make a mistake.
second of all if the government trys to ban firearms the NRA will protest the crap of of it! we are a free country after all.. the only people who really should be able to buy guns are the ones who don't have criminal backgrounds! i think they should require background checks for purchasing rifles and shotguns. but guns should not be banned..

No...in fact whackos and nut jobs and criminals will always find creative ways to secure one, while killing people who are unarmed. It is almost the Anniversary of Columbine! He may have been a copycat! What do you do if a nut got into your domicile. Do you think they will wait for you to call the police? What if your child is a scuby snack for a rabid dog or wolf? Your wife, girlfriend or daughter being raped? That is why the Second Amendmet was written to protect yourself from harm, your family and your property. It insures us the ability to take OUR Government back if they loose their minds and not be subjugated to a dictatorship, unlike Europe and Canada! Every dictator has always disarmed citizens, BEFORE they installed a DICTATORSHIP and put down legitimate democracies! Remember that!

I agree with Paul C and dare I say Rmagedon. That's actually the first thing I thought of. One law abiding citizen/student/teacher/guard with a licensed firearm could have ended that scene before it got as far as it did. You create these "gun free" zones and look what happens!

You are never going to stop criminals from getting guns, but 1 gun in the right hands could stop a criminal!

No. Just like you wouldn't ban people from driving because a drunk driver killed a lot of people in an accident. Criminals don't obey the law.

No, The problem is not the Guns, it is our society.

I seen a Bumber stcker once that read:
Dear God, why is there so much violence in school?
And God replied: Dear concerned student, because I am not allowed in school.
