Take it to your local Trading Standards Office, they'll be able to tell you. You can find their telephone number in the directory where your Council telephone number is.

One way of telling is how the pattern goes all the way round the bag.
real lois vuitton bags are made from 1 strip of leather and will go from front to back with the pattern reversed on alernate sides eg >!< But if the 2 sides of the bag follow the same pattern, it's fake. eg: >!>
I hope that makes sense and helps!

There have actually been several exposes lately on news programs in the states. You might try something like 20/20 on abc.com or one of the other major networks.
Not sure, though, it matters. These are gifts? Or is your friend wanting you to buy the bags?

go to a shop that sells louis vuitton and ask then what makes them original so that if someone asks you to prove yours is original you would know what to say.

I believe they all have serial numbers now so that would be one check to do, but having one won't prove it the genuine article just a better quality fake but could start you on the right track

If it's a good friend it's real. If it's not a good friend then it's probably a fake.
