When i put it into my PC my "zune" begins to charge and then stops. when i connect it to my xbo360/pc at work it charges and keeps charging.

USB bus might lack enough power; this happens to me before, remove the connection of all other USB devices except keyboard/mouse if needed absolutely, verify again the sync cable works now, if so lacking power is exactly the problem, a powered hub solved it, so my Linux notebook now never drop a wireless signal.

If your computer has an AMD CPU, and Viatech USB Host Controllers; changing the USB Host Controller drivers to standard or generic drivers, may work.
