You need to ask your ISP to enable ADSL on your phoneline, then you need to replace your existing modem with an ADSL modem, which connects to the ethernet socket on your computer. Thats essentially it, there will be a bit of config to do with the modem to make it connect but the ISP will detail that.

ISP is easy, just sign up for the broadband package of your choice. just make sure the ADSL modem is included in the package.
for your home, you will need the PC/notebook and an analog phone line (usual telephone land line)
the ADSL modem can be 2 connection types in terms of the network connection, and some are even wireless routers. the 2 types are either network cable connected or usb cable connected to your PC. connect up the modem according to the simple instructions.
ADSL has a special requirement. a micro filter is required for each and every phone sharing the same line. cos some homes have one phone line, but the phone line is extended into various rooms. so that you can have more than one phone. so each phone needs a micro filter.
the computer connection should not be connected to the micro filter (unless the micro filter has a splitter, so that the phone symbol is for your phone in your computer room, and the other connector is for connecting to your ADSL modem)
if you do not do this, then when your home phone rings, your
ADSL connection will break. and in the midst of a phone conversation, you will not be able to have internet access.

You need a ADSL modem, and a ADSL connection. Ring your ISP, and they will Set up the ADSL connection for you. They may even sell you a ADSL modem as well. Otherwise you can get one from your local PC store

They will send you a "Starter Kit" after signing up, at least that's how it happened with Bell Canada. It describes what you need to do and the enclosed hardware to do it.
Usually mean the rental modem w/ cables and few frequency filters for keeping ordinary phones clear from violating the ADSL frequency. Also a standard but branded PPPoE driver program that protocols the modem correctly.
