Good practise is to keep them for at least 6 months. If you get hit with a tribunal claim down the line you'll need all the paperwork. A person doesn't need to be employed by you, if you turned them down for an interview or the job itself they can claim discrimination and you'll need all related paperwork to fight your case.

There are no regulations on this - you can bin anything unsuitable (after replying in the negative of course) - but if any CVs are good you can keep them for as long as you want for a re-call.

One of my employer's kept all the CVs for 10 years regardless if they were unsuccessful or not.

You keep them for 6mths after the interview date for the job, same with all the interview records.
