10 hours while your in your late teens is good. your body needs the extra sleep, however as you get older your should decrease it to about 8 hours when your 20. studies have shown that when you over sleep as an adult you start to feel more tired, so be careful not to keep up the 10 hours for many more years.

Typically a human body needs to rest only one hour, but the brain requires at least 4 or more hours to function well-if at all! The average person will sleep about 6-8 hours! And most sleep experts generally agree that in the Western World way of living...we probably don't get enough rest at all! It has been suggested that anyone should have a brief 1 hour afternoon 'knap or siesta' at some point in the day-in order to revitalise yourself! But in todays modern world...that is a difficult thing to do-especially if you work in a 9 to 5 factory or office job. Or any job that requires constant attention! I don't really believe that there is any such thing as 'too much sleep'. A body shuts itself down when rest is required. And it awakens whenever that requirement is met! The worst possible way to rest is where we have to force ourselves awake, usually by means of an Alarm Clock-and force our bodies to get going! At 17 years of age...I think that 10 hours is perfectly fine,as long as you can meet your normal itinerary...during your awakened hours? You are still quite young as well...and thus you are still growing and developing! So a good slate of rest is quite important, especially in your youth. Everyone is different however, and so...some need more, and some need less! I am 42 years of age,and I function beautifully on 6 1/2 hours of rest, but I can get by okay with 4 1/2 to 5 hours...but only barely! I've developed my own pattern...where I'll get up at a specific time-without the aid of an alarm clock. However...if I don't follow the pattern 'religiously' I will later on find myself too tired,or even too tired to be tired-and it can screw up my whole work week! If you have to have 10 hours to feel well, then try to set your schedule to it-if at all possible? I hope this will assist you abit! Thx. theerrander.

Vicent, for you to be at your best you need at least 8 hours of sleep. It's been proven kids who don't sleep properly meaning rest will perform less in school and may even fall asleep in class. So based on statistics I would say 8-10 hours is good. Keep up your grades and look to a brighter future. God Bless.

8 hours of recomended sleep. I'd set your hours to 10, though. I need atleast 6 hours of sleep just to keep my head on straigh, but still that is very little.
