Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress. It helps you cope with tense situations. It also helps you focus on the task at hand and motivates you. Almost everyone experiences anxiety from time to time. Typically, anxiety goes away when the triggering event is over.
However, anxiety is a problem when it becomes an excessive, irrational dread of everyday situations, such as riding an elevator or leaving your house. People with anxiety disorder experience excessive fear and worry that are out of proportion to the situation. These feelings are more intense and last longer than normal feelings of anxiety.
If you find it difficult to control your worry or stress or if anxiety interferes with your daily activities, consult your doctor or a mental health professional. If you are diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, effective treatment is available.

Anxiety is usually a feeling that rears its head when we are alone and our sub conscious goes into overdrive. The reason can start sometimes years before the symptoms show themselves, other times it can be a matter of days after an incident, this is why we cannot always pin down the cause. By socialising with other people and keeping our selves and our minds occupied will be a great help in our (internal) healing. Many have told me that by walking or exercising with friends also helps. Hope this has been of some help.

Anxiety can be different for different people.. it can also be different depending on the situation... as someone pointed out.. you can be anxious about a test you have to take... or you can be anxious about dang near everything in your life..
Anxiety is an over powering feeling of worry... one in which you can not pull your mind from it... for some people in goes into full blown panic attacks... sweaty palms.. sweaty feet.. excessive persperation everywhere... shaking... nauseau... light headedness.... fainting.... rapid heart rate.. chest pains... I can go on and on.. .. some people even break out in hives...
If you are truly feeling anxious.. you need to figure out what is making you feel this way.. and come up with coping skills for it... remember it's ok to worry.. but worry once and worry well.. then put it away until you can do something about it.
