what kind of taxes am i looking at paying seeing that i have
to be overseas for one year to be tax exempt..

You wouldn't be tax exempt, though you MIGHT qualify to exclude part of your income from US taxes. Since you won't meet the residency or physical presence tests for that, you are left with claiming a credit for any foreign income taxes paid. File Form 1116 to claim that.
