We couldn't afford to do that but it would be a great idea to actually view what goes on instead of just filming it. Our local shop was broken into with a CCTV camera trained on it but the police said they didn't have time to watch the film!

Cameras are cheaper and if we put police on every corner they would get caught napping on camera

Cameras are not much deterrant because the more cameras we have the more people we need to monitor them effectively. What we need is suitable punishment when people get caught being naughty.

yes,bobbies walking the beat like years ago,there was certainly less crime then,and people felt safer,but i think it comes down to not enough man power and resources nowadays.
