I've only seen one citation that supports the conservative's claim, the one guys study that is cited above (actually it's not the study, but just refers to it)... 20/20's not exactly a scientific study...

I would like to see another... and what exactly do they call "charity"

the only way I could figure conservatives would win would be counting church giving as "charitable donations" and going to church as "donating your time to charity".... both of which would be highly debatable... at least to say 100 percent should be called "charity"

all I ever see them talk about is "I want to keep all of my money and if someone else wants help, they can work for it"...

does that sound very charitable? I don't see how people with that attitude could be the most charitable... unless they are counting what they give at church?

Giving your paycheck to the 700 Club is not a charity. The Red Cross has always collected the largest amount of funding. The Red Cross comes from the Catholic Church (out of the UK) which is predominately Liberal Democrat. The Red Cross were the winners in the giving department over Hurricane Katrina too, not the Evangelist that never showed up.

Conservatives- according to several studies, including ABC's (non-scientific) 20/20 and a Syracuse Professor, among others- give 30% more to Charity. Religion is a big factor, though not all the donations are through Religious Organizations, much of it is through Secular Groups. But another factor is that Conservatives don't believe it is the Government's Jon to "Redistribute the Wealth" so they offer up money and blood, and other necessities to Charity. Liberals believe it is the government's job, so they leave it to the Government.

Personally, and I am being cynical in the extreme, I would surmise that the person with the greatest degree of Humanity, or the guiltiest conscience would be a soft touch. My money is on the "Conservative" because that way they would be justifying Their existence, whereas the "Liberal" wpuld merely be validating someone else's.

It depends on the person and the charity.

There are several studies showing that conservatives are far more charitable than liberals. It seems that conservatives are generous with their money while liberals are generous with other people's money. The reason probably has to do with the fact that conservatives are, on average, more religious.
