Today, with the horrible situation at that school, there was news coverage all day. It is not that I do not feel for the victims and their families. It worries me that the media sensationalizes tragedies. There is so much coverage, and they really do not say anything new. I mean if they think that video games cause people to become desensitized to violence. Why is it that the news playing things over and over does not do the same?

Okay, I understand that the video games are fictional, but most people do not know the victims and families personally. It would bother me if my family’s tragedy were all over the news.

Yeah mate, I agree.
Even though I'm in Australia its all over the news. It happens every time.
Take the beaconsfield mining incident. One day its a small mining town the next it has just as many people from the media as there is in the town. Every news station had to send at least 2 Journalists and it was a frenzy. The news was covered with correspondents "reporting live from the scene" and you couldn't go one hour without a news report or an update.

Its fine to have journalists down there to find out the facts but now days its just becoming ridiculous.

With mass media being accessible like the air you breathe, they're going to suck this dry until eventually some thing else comes alongside. i think they ought to leave this count number on my own and communicate about strategies to avert such issues as this from taking position by technique of speaking about college bullying and psychological well-being subject matters. I mean what occurred, occurred and infrequently everybody is dumbfounded and attempting to make certain it out is type of a Pandora's field, who's conscious of what can come out of this....my guess is a movie on Lifetime or a indie flick that receives truly some awards.

US television, print and radio media all overdo the dog because they all brown-nose out for that Pulitzer or other money award prize. I'm glad I'm NOT in journalism anymore; US news media REALLY has gone propagandist---the very thing we swore our country would not be exposed to.

Ad revenue!

The only time that people watch the news religiously is during a tragedy. Viewership skyrockets, which means that more people see the ads, which means they charge more, which means more profit.

Everything is economics.

I agree. I think TV especially use their vast reach to bring us loads of horse manure. They pander to mankind's baser instincts. They have the power to spread useful information and raise people up, but they choose instead to spend their highly educated time decorating the gutter with colorful ribbons and fancy lettering. Ahem, that's all.
