Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ pretty easy there.

Motherboard: That is debateable, if you want all the bells and whistles I would say go for the ASUS Crosshair.

in accordance to what I study. it type of feels that AM2 socket helps a variety of of those processors: AMD Athlon™ 64FX / 64X2 / X2 / sixty 4 and Sempron. And AM2+ socket help many of the AM3 processor. so which you will desire to get a AM2 Athlon 2.7Ghz when you consider that your no longer AM2+

X2 6000+ for sheer speed, X2 5600+ for energy efficiency.
