American Friends! Words are so inadequate in times like this.
But we pray that you will somehow find the strength to endure this time of enormous sorrow.

One of my friends goes to VA Tech and is thankfully okay but at my college we have not stopped talking about the tradgedy. It is so unreal and devastating that this is happening in our nation which we consider to be so safe. My heart and condolences go out to the families and friends of the deceased and injured.

My sincerest sympathy to all those who have been touched by the senseless violence. There is little that can be said at such a time to bring comfort to those who are suffering.

It is a horrible, horrible tragedy but in time, it will fade from public view. Only those who have suffered a personal loss will be faced with the struggle to overcome their grief and restructure their life.

I urge the survivors to seek out self help groups such as the ones I listed. There is a local chapter in your area.

Most of the people in the self-help group Parents of Murdered Children have strong feelings about this issue as well as Citizens against Homicide. (Members of both national groups have suffered the loss of a loved one to homicide) Compassionate Friends is also a self-help group however it is for parents who have lost a child to any cause homicide, accidental death or disease.

It is difficult to emotionally process such a horrible event. Sometimes people react in stages such as denial, anger and blaming. This is a normal chain of reaction to tragedy towards the acceptance of the event.

Sorry I am speechless. The horror of it all is still spinning chaotically in my brain. I am too choked to even think of what to say!
Words ARE so inadequate!

What can I say that will relieve their pain and heartache...except that I am so, so sorry that such an awful thing has happened to them.
