Are there any ghettos in London or around London? And if so are they like American ghettos, not just poor but like...ghetto?

walthamstow , brixton , hackney . theres a big gang culture going on in these areas right now , gun crime and stuff. lets just say i wouldnt walk around alone there at night x

The Estates there are pretty rough certainly and there is an awful lot of gang activity in the area, a lot of knife and gun crime and a prevalence of drugs and prostitution on the streets especially near the Broadway. However in the area around the green and the common it is quite pretty to look at and there are some nice houses. Even in these areas though whenever we drive through Mitcham we always lock the car doors as we do in Battersea, Haringey, Hackney etc.

No, not really. Property in London is just too expensive to really qualify in that respect. There are poorer areas, more crowded areas, and areas associated with particular ethnic minorities, Brick Lane, Kilburn or Brixton might surprise tourist visitors to London, and there are places where I'd be a little careful at night, but you'd have to be pushing the term somewhat to make it fit.
Googling London + Ghetto, eight of the first ten references are to a night-club, so it's not just me looking through rose-tinted glasses.
