Birth control is a great way to prevent unwanted pregnancies. This lessens the abortion rate, lessens the amount of neglected and abused children, and helps keep the population down. And population is a huge problem, because at the rate the population of the world is growing the earth won't be able to sustain us much longer!

Catholics don't use it because they believe it conflicts with the biblical mandate to go forth and populate the world- but lots of people can't have children. That's like saying they're sinning by NOT populating the earth. The mandate was also written back 2000 years ago when the earth was not so populated- you can't just expect it to be followed the same way. People aren't sinning by not having children. This would also be saying that if a couple didn't have sex, they would be sinning!

Anyways, whether or not you believe in premarital sex, both single and married women use it to prevent pregnancy.

As for different forms of birth control, I believe all would fall into the category I stated above. I don't think that hormonal vs. other methods like the IUD which scrapes the lining of the uterus really affect what I said above.

As for what I feel about it, they are great, great things. I'm not ready to have kids yet, but I don't think there's anything wrong with sleeping with my boyfriend. So they're an easy, convenient way to keep me kid-free and let me get through college. Now if only they weren't so expensive...

Depo: i would never ever ever ever recommend anyone getting on it. there are too many horrible side affects that a majority of women experience (me being one of them) that it is not worth not having a period. I was on it for four years and it sucked.

Pill: I'm on Kariva and have had no issues that I had on depo. I would recommend this one to everyone.

Since I have not experienced the other forms of birth control I cannot give you a good opinion.

Being with one partner for over 4years I did not use any sort of protection. We were very careful though for any unexpected pregnancies.
Currently I am on the pill and I think it was the worst decision I have ever taken. 3months into it I have tremendous moods swings, I am overly emotional and not myself anymore.
Once I am done with my pack I am getting off it.
It is not worth the side-effects for me.

To be honest there is no real need for protection when you have been with your partner for years and you trust him/her.
If not DEFINITELY use protection (i.e. condoms). There is no reason to risk your health and sanity.

Oops I just saw the second part of your question.
I am not driven by the standards of my religion when it comes to being safe.

Well First off I claim no religion as my own but I am not a complete fan of the condom(I like to call it a hat). Thses "Hats" are not as fun as no "hat" let me tell you. I like to feel everything and the "hat" takes some of the pleasure away but My girlfriend likes it both ways. She prefers the "hat" because (I don't mean to toot my own horn but...) I am kinda big in that area so it hurts her when I... anywho she likes them and I just like all of it so yeah...quote me if you want :)

i am catholic and dont believe in birth control but i dont think thats why. i just dont think that (like with the shot) you stop your period. it happens for a reason. and the pills to regulate if, if it were meant to be regular it would be. i just dont think birth control is natural.
