One can suppose that, with Americans united to denigrate Muslims and Arabs, racism against African-Americans will decrease. However, the problem is the average American isn't intelligent enough to distinguish between a Muslim, a Hindu, or a Sikh. Likewise, they are just as likely to mistake a Mexican for an Arab. This continues the generalized racism of most American thinking that so blindly labels Hondurans, Nicaraguans, Salvadorans, and anything else from south of the border as "Mexican." The simple fact is a nation that can't even apologize, much less make reparation, for the enduring historical legacy of slavery is in NO position to LIE and claim that it truly believes all people are equal. Racism is a pervasive and poisonous fact of the United States. It is every bit as oppressive now as it was 100 years ago and every bit as omnipresent in our culture as the class warfare that sustains our economy. Everyone legally is equal, but the wealthy are much more equal than everyone else. Of course, if racism were not institutionalized into our laws and society, then poor blacks and poor whites would be equally screwed. The numbers, however, do not support that notion. Whites commit several times more murders across the nation every year, but they don't even begin to land on death row at the rate that blacks do.
No, Americans don't believe all people are created equal. Otherwise, they'd be marching in the streets all over their nation until real economic, legislative, and social justice were achieved. All Americans want is whatever their magazines and tv's tell them to buy.

Arab Muslims don't have a part in the global culture because they choose not to. For those of you that think Americans are the ones who are fatally arrogant and ignorant, you know next to nothing about Arab culture.
I have read the Qur'an cover to cover, and it says repeatedly that you should kill all infidels. Arabs look at everyone else down their collective spiteful nose, honestly believing that their god honors them above all others because of the things they do, including killing anyone who is not like them. It is a belief that they are raised with.
As for the school mentioned in this news story, it sounds more to me like a place meant to promote a cultural balance rather than a religious intolerance; it doesn't sound like a madrassa to me.

Something like that. In the Revolutionary War, all were equal unless they were of the King's party. In the War for Southern Independence, all were equal unless they were against the war (in the USA). In WWI, all were equal except Germans and anything German. In WWII, all were equal except those of Japanese decent. Whenever a group of people are believed to be harmful to the rest such as those who practice radical Islam, anyone from that group in general gets lumped in. Not a good thing but it is typical mass-human nature (as opposed to individual human nature).
Vilifying/discriminating to reduce tension? 0% unless ethnic cleansing is widespread and the cultures shun each other completely from afar.
Pipes wants the threat? Only if he is a disciple of Machiavelli (and I don't know that he is or isn't).

Everybody is created equally! Especially in America. Even under the situation we are in, we still allow Muslim visitors into our country, and allow Muslims and Islamic people to live amongst our population.
The problem of people being people, who have feelings and individual beliefs, is people will always get mistreated, but it isn't at the expense of our Government. It is at the Expense of Ones Beliefs. Just like One under the Islamic/Muslim faith would read the Quran and twist the all ready hatred based words in it and use it to solidify a right being in there belief towards there opinion. This is how terrorist groups start by the way.
I suggest that every Person read the Book of Allah(Quran/Kuran/Curan) so you actually understand where Muslims/Islamics beliefs are coming from and how easy it is to twist its words.

Of course we were not all created equal. Not even close. If we were we would all be treated equal and every group that was not white, Christian, male, landowner would have to fight for every right that were promised by the Constitution and Declaration of Independence.
Vilifying and/or discriminating against any group only makes them fight harder to be accepted. History has proven this over and over again. Yet the American way is to vilify and discriminate anyone who is different from them in any way. Be it race, religion, culture, looks, weight, sexual orientation etc. We may deny it but proof of this is everywhere every day. Americans just refuse to admit it. If they admitted it then they would have to do something about it. Like learn.

Well look. You're stepping close to the old "Racial profiling is wrong'' sentiment.
The people who attacked this country were Arabs. Muslim Arabs. People have a RIGHT to feel some anger and even mistrust.
But it is their jobs as American citizens to ensure that they are a part of the same America that they take for granted. Give...and get.

When will people stop asking obvious prattling questions like this as if it was something original the answer is no and yes along with blacks whites women asians hispanics native americans ad infinitum...ad nauseum. In a forum setting. Especially like this one. It does as much to perpetuate racism as a kkk pamphlet. You cannot change human nature!
P.S. nummy I don't mean to be rude but you abviously know nothing of Islam. They believe in the same God we Christians believe in. They believe in Jesus, Abraham, and all the rest. It is "people" that that twist and use religious dogma to suit their own agendas. Be it war, profit , or to subjugate the masses in one way or another, Just like we Christians have done. Ever hear of a little place called Jonestown? Or a little thing called the inquisition?

No, actually.
Women and minorities get extra credit on certain school and job applications.
Obviously, we DO NOT think everyone is equal.
But I suppose we must believe male Arabs and Muslims are as equal as white males, at least (and some Muslims ARE white males, of course).

Please. Objective moralities have always followed American wars.
In the cold war it was hatred against socialists and Russians.
In the 40's we had concentration camps for Germans, Italians, and Japanese-Americans.
In the 20's and 30's, the KKK hit its political peak with its direct and irrational hatred of black people.
American conservatives have always needed a minority demographic to demonize and unwillingly serve as a second class race. It makes them feel "special" as if they were a social default.
