People often say that tolerance is a good thing. Is it always a good thing?
If so, explain why?
If not, in what conditions is it appropriate not to be tolerant of some act or policy?

It's nice to be tolerant but it's another thing to be reasonable.

I am tolerant of a person who drinks in front of me because the only one (s)he puts in danger is him/herself.

I am intolerant of someone who smokes in front of me and blows smog in my face because (s)he have just put me in danger. That is why I don't hang out (i.e. tolerate) people like that.

Tolerance is a peace keeper and strong sign of intelligence. There is a time and place for tolerance and for rebellion. Gut instinct should lead in the right direction.

I believe that everything is good in moderation. If you are too tolerant, people will walk all over you and you will loose self esteem. If you are too stuborn you will become known as a hard a** and you will probably have no friends. You need to learn the boundries, and walk the fine line. Everything is good in moderation.

Yes, it is very important to be tolerant. There are times though when we need to speak up for ourselves. If we are being taken advantage of or abused, we must stop the tolerance.
