I actually like Cash's version a bit better because of the quiet desperation in his voice. Something about an old man singing such an angst-ridden song gives a whole new layer to the meaning of the song. I give Reznor due credit for his work but Cash's stripped down acoustic feel creates a mood that is unmatched. Also, Cash kind of makes the song his own by adding the religious element of his life in the song- changing the lyrics "I wear this crown of ****" to "I wear this crown of thorns." Excellent question that I'm sure will start a good debate.

Johnny Cash is awesome, and the "Hurt" cut is probably the best from that recent album he did before he died. Some of the songs were aweful and I don't want that to be my last impression of him.
