when finding common factors of two numbers, you have to do a prime factorization. sorry about the big word, but it's what it's called. let's do... 25 and 100
25=5X5
100=4X25=2X2X5X5
so the greatest common factor is the largest numbers that match in both factorization, in this case 5

for the guy ^^^ with the 100 and 25 example- its GREATEST common factor, so the greatest common factor of 25 and 100 is 25 because it can go into 25 (25x1) and 100 (25x4)
