Air contains nitrogen,oxygen,argon ,carbondioxide,traces of other gases,smoke, dust,radioactivedust,volcanic dust,condensation nuclei like salt particles, droplets of sulphuric acid etc.The most important and variable constituent is the water vapour which is meteorologically important.

The answer is C.Now let me explain.Sound waves are longitudinal waves, that is they are propagated as a series of compressions and rarefactions.However being mechanical waves they are unable to travel in vacuum.In other words sound needs a medium for its propagation.That is why sound cannot be heard on the moon as the moon does not have an atmosphere.
