Hi there, It would seem that us humans seem to be gluttons for punishment. Love can be a pain. Relationships require continual work , and we must take the 'rough with the smooth' in order to sustain them. This could be said for parent/child and sibling relationships, which are usually classified as unconditional love. However, we can also philosophise that 'we can pick our friends but not our relations; and it is amazing how we can be at war with our so called family. They say that there is a fine line between love and hate, and love can stir up all kinds of emotions in us.
Sometimes, or even quite often, love can be a pain. But we all strive for that love professed to be so wonderful; and some of us are lucky enough to have that. I hope that you are one of the lucky ones! :o)

romantic love might not exist in true form, parent and child love is painful but this pain is essential. We owe a duty to the past and to the future hence the pain derives from accepting change when the outcome or consequence for doing so, is not entirely understood by one of the parties.

Love is not a pain, the exit of love causes the pain in ones heart, it is an aching empty feeling, may it be through death, separation or what ever, the pain remains. Hence the saying, time heals

Loving somebody can hurt you very, very much, because you open up and thus become vulnerable. However, the positive things of love (even if it is short lived) overshadow all the negative bits and it's worth the possible pain in the end.
