Pretty sure this movie was made in the late 80's early 90's. In English but probably not American made.
This poor bedraggled girl stumbles across a walking empty suit of armor that attacks her. She defeats it and ends up in the armor. it gives her magically abilities to become a great warrior. She ends up falling for one of her fellow knights... (they end up together).

sorry but not sure of the middle word. kind of a nutty comedy, right? kind of risque? i vaguely remember falling asleep as someone was watching this.

It looks like it was Hearts and Armour
From all indication, it was an Italian movie with a UK release
