Yës.
You can write "güey" (pronounce it like "way") which in Mexico (not in Spanish) means "dude". But only in Mexico, remember that.

Yes, they're sort of like accents and colon/semi-colons. When I correctly use linguistic symbols it gives me a little thrill of satisfaction... (sort of like when I get things in the mail on time, or when I pull over in time to let an ambulance pass, or loan someone a book that they really enjoy, etc.) I know, I know, cheap thrills....it's my life.....
