Because some of us choose to be. I don't have to have "somebody special" in my life to be complete. I am a whole person on my own, alone but not lonely. I don't need other people, I want to be around other people, and that is a huge difference. 2 lonely people get together you still have 2 lonely people.

Because they spend their lives hiding behind corals and in dark caves. The only company they have is plankton and some seaweed.
