In brief: More than one straight line that runs from the center to the outside of a circle or sphere.
This is the only way' we say, but there are so many ways, as there can be drawn radii from the center. — Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)

A radius is the distance from the center of a circle to any point on the circumference. Radii is the plural of radius. A circle can have many radii, but of only one length.
Generally speaking radii are straight directions and lengths along paths away from a common point. This can be like the spokes in a wheel. They have the same length, but different direction. They extend out radially, but are confined to a flat arrangement.
Likewise the radius of a sphere is constant and it too can have radii , but these are in all directions.
So much for plain and solid geometry.
So light and energy "rays" from the Sun or from a light source radiate outward in every direction. From this comes the term "radiant energy". Here it is really describing the straight paths away from the source because these radii can have different lengths.

plural form of radius
In classical geometry, a radius of a circle or sphere is any line segment with one endpoint on the circle (i.e., the circular boundary) and the other at the center of the circle. By extension, the radius of a circle or sphere is the length of any such segment. The radius is half the length of the diameter.
