Four 17-year-olds have played in the World Cup, including Javed Miandad in the very first one, in 1975 - but the youngest player ever to appear is Talha Jubair of Bangladesh, who was only 70 days past his 17th birthday when he opened the bowling against West Indies at Benoni in 2002-03. The other 17-year-olds were Sudath Pasqual of Sri Lanka in 1979, and Thomas Odoyo of Kenya in 1995-96.

Javed Miandad of Pakistan was the youngest to participate in the world cup when he played in first ever world cup in 1975. He was slightly over 16 years of age and had not played any international cricket till then. Interestingly he played as a very important member of the Pakistan squad in next 5 world cups and 1996 world cup match against India at Bangalore became his last one day match.
