My formal prom dress is strapless, off-white with a black sash that hangs down the side, floor-length, and made of chiffon. My shoes are black. My hair is long, brown, and wavy. I have tan skin and green eyes. I haven't picked out my jewelry yet. I don't usually wear much eye makeup, but I'm getting it done at a salon the day of the prom. What should I ask the makeup artist to do? If you can find any photo references, that would definitely help!!! Thank you!

I'm not going to be having it done at Mac, I have an appointment with Aveda.

Wear brownish shades for the makeup, it brings out the green eyes. Definitely not smokey eyes. Just ask the makeup artist what to do. It's their job, they'll definitely pick a good look for you!

There are a few combinations you can look into.

Eye liner is usually best if its black or brown. (it depends what eye shadow combos. you doing. Consult your makeup artist)

There are a few color combinations that work well with your eyes, hair, dress, and personality.

*Different shades of cremes and browns always looks beautiful and gives you a natural glow. (Shimmery or a taint of sparkle looks beautiful for a night out)
*The right kind of purple combination works on most any girl. If you havent worn much makeup purple is a great start.
*The right pinks and cremes look great and if your makeup artist does it right is also a natural looking alternative.

When you decide what lip color to get have it, coordinate with your eye makeup. (Dont go to dark or bright...Lip gloss with color is always beautiful. And a little lip liner helps. Buy your own because your going to need to touch up.)

Make sure your blush isnt too bright. Blush can really make or break the look your going too. Dont go too or too dark.
(Your makeup artist will help you choose)

Foundation in a liquid form is something that will really even out your skin tone and can do wonders for you beauty. A little powder over the top is nice too.

They have shimmery stuff they can put on your skin that if done right looks gorgeous when your going all out.

The main thing is not to do something too over-powering and to choose the right colors. Good luck! Im sure youll look beautiful!

If you haven't picked your prom jewelry yet, this article might help. http://www.guyotbrothers.com/uses/prom-jewelry.htm

With regard to makeup, Aveda should be a good place to go - you don't want to be over-done. The colors of your gown will allow them to work with your hair and skin tones without clashing with the gown colors.

You should go to the mall and have them do a few different looks then write down or take a picture of what they did that you liked best. Then show it to the make-up artist when you get it done, that way they won't just guess and then you have to go to your prom looking bad.

Maybe a silver eyeshadow, to tie in the silver detailing on your dress. Maybe turn the silver base into a dark grey smokey eye. Teamed with liner and big lashes, it will look lovely :)
