My guess is that it's just cold. Bettas need a temperature of about 76F to function well and 78-80 is even better. You mention he's in a bowl and most bowls don't stay quite that warm.
As far as cleaning a bowl, I suggest you change the water every 2-3 days to prevent ammonia build up.
Feeding, feed what he can eat in 3-4 minutes once or twice a day, that's all he really needs.
2 years isn't old for a betta. Bettas very often live to be 5 years old sometimes even longer.

They like to stay still. But if that's not normal for your fish, then yes, maybe it's sick. Don't clean the bowl too often. Once a week or so is good depending on how large the tank is. Don't feed too much that food is left over in the tank. And also, make sure that you let the chlorine in the water evaporate before you change the water.
2 years old is pretty old for a beta fish. Maybe he's just getting old.

It could be in a cold place and the water is to chilly... Also, be careful about leaving by the window for too long. They seem to like sunlight for a short period of time, and it naturally warms up the water this way, but you will have green stuff growing on the glass in a very short period of time.
If you have had it for 2 years, you are doing something right!!!
Maybe it is getting too big for its bowl. They enjoy lots of space and a little plant for it to hide in is a plus. They like that, so that they have a place rest when they don't want to swim. Otherwise, they just rest on the bottom of the bowl or towards the top...
Hope this info helps you ~

The water temperatures often have alot to do with such betta behavior. It could be cold. If your tank/bowl is as small as 5gallon then don't introduce a heater. Place the tank/bowl under a lamp light. If it is a big tank then you can get a heater and set it to about 75F or so.

No it is perfectly healthy. betta fish dont like to move around, they have a slow metabolism and like to live in a small environment. also you should feed it 2 pellets every 2 days. clean the bowl once every 4 days.
Bettas have a maximum life of 4 years so 2 years isn't time for it to die. If you want you can get a filter for the tank and a heater so it is happier.

Try putting the bowl in a slightly warmer location. Especially as they become older betas become lethargic in cooler temperatures leading to a slower metabolism and no energy.

Wow 2 years old....I can't keep one alive for 2 months. I wish I could help you, but I obviously don't know what to do. I think you should feel blessed to keep it alive 2 years.

they get bored----place a mirror up against his bowl and watch how fancy pants he gets----don't leave it too long and go away----he thinks it is another male to fight. and may harm himself if left unattended.
