Everybody? No. Sane, rational, competent, trained people?
Hells yes! I lived in Phoenix for five years and I always carried a weapon. Never shot anyone but it sure made me feel a whole lot safer a bunch of times. The dirtbags who want them can always find a way to get a gun. We need less stringent gun laws so the good guys (and girls) can better protect ourselves. And for those of you who think this will lead to people shooting each other en masse...39 states have "shall issue" laws. That means that if you apply for a concealed weapons permit it shall be issued if there is no reason not to. Two states permit concealed carry without a permit. It doesn't happen. A minuscule number of people lose their permits because they don't break the law. Most anti-gun laws are useless. Look at the facts rationally, not emotionally and put aside your pre-conceived notions.

Top Contributer...we already are.
Let me see now, something like eighty million out of a population of three hundred million have guns.
And, what about those guns hidden somewhere, ready to go off whenever somebody gets ticked off.
Once it was revealed that in New York City alone, something like forty thousand handguns registered, but believed to be something like two million handguns in existence, not registered. Alarming?
Just think how many guns get discovered by little kids, and then they play with them..and one gets shot by accident.
That Ammendment right to bear arms is a tough right to have to abolish one day...Those who belong to that Gun Lobby (NRA) swear that they'll give up their guns when somebody takes them from their dead, cold hands.
The answer is no...nobody feels comfortable about loaded guns in proliferation...like ticking time bombs waiting to go off at whim.
We either bury them all (an impossibility) or take our chances.
With tough gun club lobbyists, just as tough as the old folks with AARP, expect more and more handguns to get into the hands of missfits.
It's like we're all playing Russian roulette now.
Find me a country where they respect laws and don't need to carry concealed weapons, and I'll go there.

Aren't we doing that right now?
I think we are walking around right now in a soceity where the criminals all have guns. We are living in a day and age that it is "him or me". I think that many feel better with a firearm handy. Personally, I think that having a gun will get you killed faster, but that is my choice. I think it is a country where one has the choice, and should have the choice.
How are we going to keep the guns out of the criminals' hands? Tougher gun laws will only keep them out of the hands of those that follow the laws. Criminals don't care about laws. They will still get them.

What do you think it will be like when no one has a weapon to defend themselves, while the criminals will always find a way....do you think you will then be safer?
Everyone has to be able to defend themselves.
Maybe you should ask how it would have turned out if someone had been able to fight back...because no one in the room was able to...would the outcome have been different?
One person out to do harm with any weapon...not just a gun....and no one else able to fight back...will still have the same outcome.
We will be in worse shape the day our homes become free for the criminals to walk in....at least now, they still have to worry.....and I've known of a number of people who were able to do just that.
To me, what is scarier is making us unable to fight terrorists or anyone else and "depend" on the few cops to save us.

I can see it now...the "Wrong Doesage Of Anti-Depressant" legal defense.
What age would it be legal to carry a weapon?
Do we teach Gun Education-Laws-Practical lab in schools?
What caliber is legal and what caliber is not?
Would it not be a nightmare for Police knowing everyone they pull over/encounter may legally carry a gun?
Is not just feeling threatened, justification to shoot someone?
I don't even trust people at a 4-way stop to do the right thing!

No...but I'd be even MORE uncomfortable living in a land in which only my governments and their rival governments had guns.
Finding equilibrium is the answer there.

Did you know there are towns in the USA where people are encouraged to carry weapons (not concealed weapons - weapons in plain view)?
I know of two such communities. Neither have a high crime rate. Shootings are rare. The only places they must check their guns are restaurant/taverns and government buildings. I'm sure you can understand the logic of those two exceptions. :-)

Yes, not only would I be "comfortable" I would feel a lot more secure. Having survived an assault on the street, only a half block from my home, I wish I had been armed. Try living in the real world........"I mean , really" is rather sophomoric, isn't it? Best wishes when you grow up.

There'd be more lead in the air than birds. Look at how good life is for the people in Detroit, D.C., Compton, and Iraq.
All of those people have LOTS of guns!
The answer to the problems caused by guns is NOT to have more of them - the answer is to have none of them.
