trying to get the fuel tank off a 93 ford probe to install a new fuel pump, but having trouble getting the tank down, has anybody done this before that can give me some tips?

Due to the age of your car, you should check all the lines' condition going to and from your fuel tank before you start removing the tank (replace any damaged line). it may be corroded so bad that it will fall apart when you remove them. you need to drain the gas out. it's hard to bench press 20 gal of gas :) good luck.

Make sure that all of the connections are removed and the tank is clear of the suspenson and exhaust. You'll have to jack this car up high to allow some clearance. This is all there is to it. If you left one wire on, you won't get the tank out. Take your time and do it right.

most are held by straps try typing into search box how to remove fuel tank vw van try going to a vw forum type into search box 1978 vw van forums should be able to find your answer most cars or trucks sme vw shouldnt be any different

are we sure the tank must come off ?? some cars have access panel in trunk to reach pump.
