sv 650?

If you have oil in the gas tank,,,somebody put it there.
Just drain tank and fill with fresh gas.

If you have GAS in the Oil,,,,,in the engine,,,,
That's BAD NEWS.
Usually it comes from a Carburetor which is leaking internally allowing fuel to overflow into engine.

DONT RIDE it if you smell Gasoline in the engine oil.

You are correct about Draining the oil and flushing it with fresh oil.

That will save/protect the Engine parts from the contaminated/fuel-diluted oil.

But you are Also going to need to Find & Fix the CAUSE of the gas getting into the oil.
Or it's most likely going to happen again.

Good Luck

Oil in the gas tank? This isn't really possible (unless someone actually pour oil in the gas tank) - however, gas in the oil is definitely possible!

Please describe what you found, and the actual problems the bike is having. Don't worry about making conclusions, just describe what's going on.

With this information, all the excellent techs here can help you out.

The gas and the oil are not connected. You may be leaking oil and yes it could be a gasket. The first step is to figure out what it is and then where is is coming from. Most likely it is oil.

If there's gas in the crankcase oil, it's possible the carbs are overflowing and/or the gas is leaking past the piston rings, falling into the crankcase.
More details are needed and possibly an inspection of the bike and the contamination properties.

I could be the best mechanic in the world but i can't answer this on Yahoo answers.

To figure his out you will need to tear into it and find the problem. i don't think you can do that ...maybe you can?

It is like calling a Doctor over the phone, they will always tell you to come in so they can look at it.

I would recommend finding a mechanic and having them look at it.

You're going to have to do much better at describing your problem for anyone to help you.
