Poverty
Take all the conglomerates (businesses) that are making major profits (we're talking millions and billions of dollars) from people like you and I and give it back to the global community to end poverty once and for all.

Over population of humans. We are more than 6 billions and the resources of the planet can't support the rate of super population. This problem is well know by the Europeans and Asians, but the rate is increasing rapidly in the "third world" countries. More people, more people to feed, more food to produce, more devastate land, more exploitation of the natural resources, more CO2 to the atmosphere, less water supplies, etc.
The solution, apart of controlling the birth rate, is design a better world. For example the planning system on the US is based on the suburban sprawl. The suburbia model encourage the dependence on the automobile and the separation of the uses. In cities the uses are mixed and you relay on public mass transportation or walking from place to place. The cities or towns use better the soil and are more dense. The suburbia is a disconnected environment where individuals and individual things are more important than community needs. The suburbia consume the countryside and destroy the traditional city centers. This is a very complex theme that involves politics, car manufactures, land developers, fast foods, mega stores, etc.
If we learn to design better places to live and to protect the environment we are making a good part on resolving the life in this world.

Sin is THE the major problem all over the world.Asking for God's mercy is THE only answer. Until we turn back to God mankind will never have peace and this is only the beginning of an unimaginable preview of things to come. Why don't people admit they can't live together and need help .Nothing has worked to fix the situation so why not give God a chance to help us ,after all what have we got to loose?(I guess even if God took over to clean things up there would be some who refuse to believe .)

The major problem of this world is ignorance and stupidity, everything thats ever been wrong with mankind is because they don't understand something about another culture so they feel it as a threat and creates alot of problems. The only way to fix this problem is to educate people and don't let ignorant people lead. I'm not bashing Bush or anything but he probably should of did a little more research in Iraq before going there.

Each-other unfortunately.
life is extremely short and insufficient for most to learn the basics, not of the human characteristics to progress, but to learn how not to hurt each-other whilst learning. To make any real difference in the short term, one would have to both fix our genetic problems and that of the environment we live, otherwise we will have a bunch of really nice friendly, polite and decent dieing starving and incompetent morons wondering on whats left of this world.
Progress is both steady and always in comparable to our changing environment. You cant change one, without the other. Well you can, and that's why there is so much conflict and competition already!

Overpopulation. Disease, famine, drought, these are all natures way of thinning out the herd. We're helping it along with war which I feel will just tip the balance the other way so it could go. But other than that, stop having kids.

Everyone blaming someone else for their problems. Solution: There is no solution. The people who blame will always suffer. The people who accept responsibility for creating their lives are already liberated.

Suggestion: Get out of Iraq! We're just escalating the situation and intensifying the violence.

Religion. It is a virus of the collective human social environment. It infects one and that one turns around and infects others.
