If you do not have firefox get it now and use it instead of internet explorer so you dont get any more spyware http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/

Patch up the holes first by Running Secunia Software Inspector http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/ .Securina will tell you which of your software is outdated and have holes in them through which the spyware/virus are entering.

To remove the spyware/trojan/virus run steps 1-2-3

1) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/2007/03/spybot-search-and-destroy-spyware-and.html do that now .Update it (Latest updates 11-04-2007) and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans in safe mode

1b) Run AVG Anti-Spyware Free

3) Get another anti virus program if your present anti virus program is not protecting you any longer

Install Yahoo Tool Bar with Pop up Blocker.

I am using Google Toolbar. And it has Pop up blocking functionality. you don't need any other third party software to block popups. Yahoo Toolbar does have Pop up blocking functionality too. You can choose anyone of them.

There are many type of spyware/adware around..there is no one definite fix for pop-up...the easiest way would be to download free program like adware, spybot & MS Windows Defender to scan your HD...secondly..if the above doesn't help...type MSCONFIG from the run dialog & go to startup...look for any program that not suppose to be there & uncheck them...restart...

if you have yahoo toolbar there is a pop up blocker right next to the search bar, you just have to click and enable it

What is your operating system? If XP, have you upgraded to Windows XP Service Pack 2?
