I did not marry for love. I married my husband because we are compatible in personality, worldly ideas, and common goals. For his family as well as my own, what we did is very common. My parents didn't marry for love(31years), neither did his parents(31 yrs). Nor did our grand-parents(all over 40yrs; some longer). Now that is not to say that I don't love my husband. I love him a great deal, and likewise. Our love grew into fruition after getting married, not before.

I did marry for love and let me tell you. It's not all that it is cracked up to be. Love doesn't pay the mortgage, and love doesn't clean the house. I have been married several years now, and I waited until I was in my 30's until I did it. Thinking I was going to "get it right" Boy was I wrong. If for some reason this doesn't work out. next time I marry, will be for security, Not necessarily money, I mean someone who knows how to take care of me and the house and cars etc... a go getting that wants to build a future, not dream about vacations we should go on...

I did, don't do it. Not for anything. I wasn't brave enough to withstand the pressure to marry at the time, but so wish I had been!
I made the mistake of thinking I could "learn to love him" because he loved me, and was "so nice." Instinctively I didn't love him because it turned out he had huge character flaws, which didn't become evident until things got ugly. Trust your gut.

No you have to spend the rest of your life with that person if I don't love him I don't want to make that step...and plus I want to get married in a church and I won't make big commitment in front of God and my family and divorces cost a lot of money you know for lawyers and all......

I can't picture anyone wanting to marry someone they don't love, not even for money or looks or anything. Love is fantastic, there is nothing better. Money can't keep you warm at night or hold you when you're upset or scared. Money can't say I love you Darlin', like my husband can.

i think there's circumstances where i could marry without being in love. what if you marry someone who is a multi-millionaire and you get along very well, but you're just not in love? if the person is tolerable to live with and you end up with a nearly unlimited income, it'd be very difficult to turn down.

I'd marry someone who loves me sincerely even if I don't love him. If he can be a good husband why not? Love does not necessarily makes a marriage works. not all marriage based on love are a happy ones.
