You have to stop and look both ways to see if a train or traffic is approaching. But I must say, I love the second person's response to this question, I agree with it as well, lol.

NO
NEVER, EVER DRIVE THROUGH A FLASHING RED LIGHT. EVER.
They are there for a reason (a train is comeing along the track, the drawbridge is opening etc.)

It varies by city, but that usually means a train is present. I wouldn't risk it.
