I took a bible study through a non-denominational Christian church for (married, monogamous, prior to their marriages and husbands virgin) women about God's view of sex. The text (and teacher) asked the women in the class to "envision The God Our Father and/or Jesus Christ watching you make love to your husband," and actually asked that we think of Him as physically present in the room during intercourse.

Just FYI, Mustard's response to the following question is what brought this whole issue to mind @ the moment.

Thanks!

Sounds like another creepy interpretation of some text.

Not too far fetched, really...keeping in mind that God does share in every moment of our experiences. Though you should also understand that He has no judgement in your matters...you are provided free-will choice & His unconditional Love as your perameters...it's all about YOU here...fulfilling YOUR agenda toward YOUR Spirit growth...that which your really are.

He cares not whether you marry as a virgin, or whether you have multiple orgasms, or if you don't like certain foreplays, or even if you like sex 5 times a day or once a year, or find your vibrator very satisfying...it's all your choices. What He rejoices in is your using your gifts...that you see every other as they truly are...spirit beings. He especially loves when you hear Him when He talks with you...and when you see His reflection in EVERYTHING. It's really very simple.

By the way, "Jesus" has no part in any of that...although a highly evolved being on the Homefront, he has his own purposes to attend to.

I'm sure their intentions were good (and many people believe that sex is a spiritual exercise as well as a physical and emotional one), but the fact that Christianity has a very personal God (Christ), to me makes this seems quite gross - almost like putting God in the position of a peeping tom.

I think some Christian leaders try to look too far into things. God is the creator of sex. No argument about that...but beware of wolves in sheeps clothing. Be like the Bereans!
