Basically the South did not like the Compromise of 1850 was that it would by land itself strangled off and eventually eliminate slavery by a slow death of attrition.It abolished the slave trade in Washington DC and it gave the lead in free states over slave states by admitting California as a free state thus negative much of Texas land claims won by the Mexican War agreement
