The British navy was largely intact. The invasion would have had to cross the English Channel. I believe the preferred tactic would have been belting destroyers through the invasion fleet at high speed, swamping and ramming the landing ships. Once the destroyers were among the ships they would be immune from air attack.

Britain's access to their mainland could be invaded by the air for Germany's advantage. Looking at a map of Germany it is a landlocked nation and does not possess many seaports and since Britain is a strong naval battle country this was to their advantage , being that they are a part of Europe and yet an island unto itself. This could be why they gave up on Operation SeaLion and went to invade the USSR in June 1941 because they believed or Hitler believed that Germany stood a better chance on land than the water. It could also be said however, in the German mind set of the day of an affiliation between England and Germany of mutual respect and a sore dislike of Eastern Europe as being considered subhuman . On the basis of geography it best served Germany's purpose and timing due to the weather had to be right as history showed Napoleon was a factor and would show Germany for 4 gruelling winters on the Russian front.
