People who say that in-vitro fertilization is bad are usually religious zealots. I know plenty of Orthodox Jewish people who go through IVF and are operating within Jewish law. Jewish law is traditionally pro-marriage and have complex laws governing marriage/procreation.
What irks me about people who slam IVF is that they sometimes tout adoption. Most people look for white babies. Most babies up for adoption are children of color. Do the math!
I gave you info from both sides of the coin. Hope this helps!

I'm confused. There is nothing bad about a test tube baby. It's not like the baby is actually born from the tube...it's born from the mother.
Maybe you are talking about the fact that some conservatives think that anything other than natural conception is wrong. However, it has been a prayer answered for thousands of infertile couples. I am very religious and I find nothing wrong with this practice. It brings more kids into the world. The only thing I would ever find wrong is if they decided to use the embryos for something other than trying to make a baby. Then I feel as if they are playing God. But I think that since so much life has come from this, it is a good thing and in God's plan.

Nothing is bad. The term "test tube baby" refers to a child who was conceived using in-vitro fertilization (fertilization in a pitri dish). Absolutely everything is great with test tube babies. If it wasn't for the "test tube baby" there would be millions of childless couples in the world.

Birth defects
The issue of birth defects remains a controversial topic in IV. A majority of studies do not show a significant increase after use of IVF. Some studies suggest higher rates for ICSI , while others do not support this finding.[7] Major birth defect include chromosomal abnormalities, genetic imprinting defects, and multiple organ abnormalities. Hansen et al conducted a systematic review of published studies (including ICSI) and found a 30-40% increase risk of birth defects associated with assisted reproductive technology when compared to children born after spontaneous conception.[8] Possible explanations offered were the underlying cause of the infertility, factors associated with IVF/ICSI, culture conditions, and medications, however, the actual cause is not known.
I know this is confusing, but this is what it said from what I read, recently.

It isn't natural procreation. An ovum is fertilized and grows inside a petri dish rather than a woman's uterus. I'm not saying it is "bad"...but it's not the way nature intended, and look at what is happening to the planet because humans messed with nature.

Do you mean why it is unethical?
Because it is an unnatural way for a baby to be conceived and develop. God designed it so babies should be conceived by a man and woman through intercourse. There are fertility methods that can help this process but couples should never resort to unnatural and unethical methods like test tubes, in vitro and surrogate motherhood.
Childless couples have SO many options besides drastic (and costly) methods like this.
